If you have read my previous blog, you would know that the official colours of the AW 17 season are from the red family, that is, red, burgundy and orange.
RED:
Where to wear:
The message that red gives out is of confidence, excitement and assertive, so perfect for date night, night out or even for office look this season.
But to be noted red isn’t the best colour option for a wedding guest outfit and job interviews, as it might be intimidating to the bride in the former and to the interviewer in the latter case.
How to wear:
Either use pops of red colour in the whole look or wear it as a monochromatic look. For example: for pops of it in the whole look – wear a suave red long coat with denim/black pants with a matching neutral colour top, topped off with accessories in red or neutral that goes with the whole outfit.
For a monochromatic look – either wear a red dress, red coat with red boots or a red top with red lower and any red shoes. Red monochromatic looks have been a popular look on AW 17 runways.
BURGUNDY:
Where to wear:
Burgundy colour is very much an autumn colour. Thinking of the burgundy colour, what is the first thing that comes to the mind? Red wine surely! Thus, burgundy represents richness and opulence. When you want to go for a look that demands to get noticed, then you could opt for a burgundy dress/gown or bursts of burgundy in the head-to-toe look. This colour will help you grab the spotlight no matter what the event or occasion is.
How to wear:
This colour can literally be worn in any outfit pieces and accessories. Be it a burgundy blouse with a black pencil skirt for work, and after work hours adding some bold, bright or metallic accessories for an evening look, or a burgundy suit worn in an edgy style for casual luxe wear or in a formal wear style, and so on.
ORANGE:
Where to wear:
Orange is a vibrant, fresh, fun and feminine colour yet edgy, volatile. So not the best colour if you want to portray a serious image and want to be taken seriously.
This is a perfect colour for any celebration attire, or a fun outing, yet people either usually love this colour or are totally against the colour.
How to wear:
Orange blazer or coat over denim pants and any matching top is a cool daytime look for any occasion.
Similarly, an orange flowy dress of any length with a feminine cut and detailing like frills, ruffles or floral prints would be great for any event or date night.
Most importantly wear orange in a good fabric, or else it can look cheap.
